Rice dish prepared using Karnataka’s own winter Flat Beans alias Avarekayi. Avarekayi Bhath has a nice peppery flavor to it.

Ingredients:
4 Cups Cooked Rice
¾ Cup Avarekayi/ Flat Beans, Boiled
¾ tsp Pepper powder
1 tsp Kadalebele / Split Bengal Gram
1 tsp Uddinabele / Split Black Gram
1tbsp Oil
½ tsp Mustard Seeds
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
Few Curry leaves
½ Cup Coconut
Juice of 1 Lemon
Coriander leaves, Chopped
Salt to taste
Method:
Heat Oil, add Kadalebele and Uddinabele. When they turn pink, add Mustard seeds and when they crackle, add Turmeric powder, And Curry leaves.
To this add Avarekayi/ Flat Beans and stir.
Add Rice, Lemon Juice, Salt, Coconut, Coriander leaves, and Pepper powder. Mix well.
Remove to a serving dish and serve hot Avarekayi Bhath.
