Recently there was a competition held in Bangalore between bird watcher’s groups on the maximum number of birds sighted in a day. Well I was not part of this competition, but would like to share some of the aquatic birds sighted by my husband and me at Kukkarahalli Lake Mysore though not on the same day. There are many land birds too at Kukkarahalli lake.

Thanks for sharing this – especially identifying the birds! Never knew so many species existed in Kukkarahalli Kere! The noise sure is deafening when you go in the evening when they are returning back to their nests. You left out one species though – the love birds (though not of the avian variety) 8^)
Hey Goutham,
Thanks for reading. Mysore is lucky to have a lake right in the city. Will be posting land/shore birds of Kukkarahalli Kere soon.
Regards,
Shantha
Hi Shantha,
Thank you very much for sharing ur pictures of those beautiful birds.. As Goutham rightly said, these water birds are too noisy.. I am a musician working on a project on bird called.. Wish you could help me get bird calls of inland birds.. I would be grateful if you could..

Hi AJ Mithra,
It is so nice to hear that you are a musician working on bird calls. Yes…hearing the chirping of birds can delight you no end…but to record their calls an appropriate powerful gadget is needed I suppose…By your query I am inquisitive now to find how to record bird calls…If I do record something I will let you know.
Please check the below link – http://www.itslife.in/2009/03/shore-birds-of-kukkarahalli-lake to read about shore birds of kukkarahalli lake.
