Sooji Mallige is a type of Jasmine very similar to Jasminum Grandiflorum – Mysooru Mallige. The only difference is that the petals are longer and more pointed, hence the name sooji meaning needle.
The fragrant flowers are white and are almost a inch long. They are very beautiful and make a grand garland. It is also used in perfumery industry.
Sooji Mallige is offered to Lord Ganesha during the 21 Pushpa Pooja, while chanting the below mantra: “Om Sarvaathmakaaya Namaha Sooji Mallika Pushpam Samarpayami”
