I cannot keep away from my beloved Western Ghats for long. The hills beckoned and we readily drove to explore Kodachadri hill ranges. Words fail to explain the enchanting beauty of Kodachadri. The hills are a perfect place for enthusiastic trekkers to trek and spot King Cobras.
Kodachadri is approximately 1400 meters above sea level and is considered a sacred hill range as the shrine of Kollur Mookambika is situated in this range of hills. The hill range is also part of Mookambika National park home to several endemic and endangered species of flora and fauna.
Reach a place called Nagodi and from there it is 5 hours trek to the peak. The best season to trek is during winter. The hill top view of the evergreen shola forests with the blue sea bordering it, is breathtaking. The sunset and sunrise is an out of the world experience.
Shri Shankaracharya meditated here and in his honor the Sarvajna Peetha is established here. Around ten kilometers trek from Kodachadri will reveal the Hidlumane Waterfalls.
