Thalipeeth is a type of bread prepared using Jower/Sorghum flour.
Cuisine: North Karnataka and Maharashtra
Time Required: 30 Minutes
Ingredients:
4 Cups Jower/Sorghum Flour
2 big Onions, Chopped Finely
4 tsp Chili Powder
Oil for roasting
Salt to taste
Method:
Mix Flour, Onions, Chili Powder and Salt along with water to form dough as shown in the picture below.
Divide the dough into balls and grease the kadai/pan with Oil. Flatten the ball on the kadai and sprinkle a spoon of Oil and roast it on medium flame. Remove Thalipeeth and serve with raitha and Chili pickle.
Hey Shantha, if i m not wrong, thalipeet andre akki rotti with onions, carrot grated and avarekalu alwa? One of my friends from north karnataka used to get that saying it as thalipeet.. so asked..
Thalipeeth in North Karnataka is always prepared using wheat flour. Chili Powder is added in thalipeeth, whereas in Akki Rotti we add Green Chilies. Coconut is added to Akki Rotti, whereas grated Carrot or Cucumber is added in Thalipeeth.
