Loved the change in cuisine when I visited my maternal grandfather’s house in Kurtakoti. The Saaru prepared there was so different from Mysore Saaru. Hence, I named it Kurtakoti Saaru and here is the recipe for the Kurtakoti Saarina Pudi.
Time Required: 40 Minutes
Cuisine: North Karnataka
Ingredients:
4 Cups Havija / Coriander Seeds
2 Cups Jeera / Cumin Seeds
1 Cup Menthya / Fenugreek Seeds
1/2 Cup Menasu / Peppercorns
2 teaspoonful Turmeric Powder
3 tsp SSP Hing / Asafoetida
4 tsp Sasvi kalu / Mustard Seeds
3 Cups Byadagi Red Chillies
2 Cups Guntur Red Chilies
1 Bunch Curry Leaves
Method:
Dry roast each of the ingredients separately.
Let it cool. Grind to a powder.
Air it for sometime and store in dry airtight containers.
Kurtakoti Saaru can be made using this Saarina Pudi.
