Making bread at home is an art. I have not perfected it yet, but my attempts to bake continue…
Cuisine: European
Time Required: 1 hour
Ingredients:
250 gms Maida
1tbsp Butter or Oil
½ tsp Yeast
¼ tsp Milk Powder (optional)
2tsp Sugar
½ tsp Salt
150 ml Water / Milk (Preferably milk)
1tsp Gluten (Optional)
For the Garlic Bread:
6tbsp Butter
½ Cup Cheese
4 – 6 flakes Garlic
¼ tsp Pepper Powder
½ tsp Chili Flakes
½ tsp Oregano
1 or ½ tsp Salt
Method:
Grease medium size loaf tin and keep aside.
Prepare the ferment by mixing ½ tsp of yeast with 2tsp of sugar and warm water / milk.
In one bowl sieve the flour, milk powder and gluten if added. Add ferment and remaining warm water. Bind to a dough (use only fingers).
Cream butter and salt and incorporate into dough using palm to form gluten or silky and smooth.
Rest the dough for 45 mts or double the volume. Cover it with wet cloth or cling film.
Punch the dough and leave it aside for 30 mts to raise.
Mix the ingredients for the Garlic Bread in a small bowl.
Put it into the dough and knead it.
Shape it and allow to raise in the bread box.
Brush the dough with Milk (Milk Bath).
Bake in pre heated oven at 220 degree for 10 – 12 mts.
Remove and brush the Garlic Bread with Butter (Butter bath).
Cut into pieces and serve with Soup or Vegetable Au Gratin.
