Phala Gowri Vratha (observance) also known as Molake Gowri (Sprout Gowri) falls on the Sharvana Amavasya day in the Hindu month of Shravana. August – September according to Gregorian calendar. For the festival date, click here.
This is celebrated for the happiness and good health of family members.
Preparation:
The Pooja starts with making a Gowri from Turmeric powder. Keep this Gowri in a plate decorated with flowers. Along with the Arishina Gowri (Turmeric Gowri), you can keep the clay idol of Goddess Gowri.
Prepare the Phala Gowri sacred thread ready with 11 knots.
Keep a Kalasha on raw rice spread on a tray. Draw Rangoli (patterns). Make a cradle using roasted chana, sugar, ghee and milk. Keep a baby doll inside the cradle. Previous day, soak Chik peas or Green Gram whole and let them sprout. Next day prepare Kosambari (salad) using this sprout.
Keep a small Ganesha idol.
Prepare a minimum of two Bagina (gift).
Prepare Habbada Adige / festival food.
Pooja Vidhana (process):
First perform pooja to the Ganesha idol.
Perform pooja to Gowri using Mangala Drowya and pooja items like Gejjevastra, flowers, Kumkum, turmeric, flowers chanting Gowri Ashtotra and Sahasranama.
Offer (Naivedya) fruits, vegetables, bagina, kosambari to Gowri. Perform Arathi while singing a Arathi song. Tie the sacred thread on the right wrist as a blessing from Gowri.
Invite women to gift the Bagina.
Enjoy the festival food.
Visarjane:
Next day, chant the Visarjane manthra and lightly shake the Kalasha and Gowri. Immerse the Gowri in water.
