Meaning of the above shloka / chant is that the Guru / teacher is the representative of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The Guru creates, sustains knowledge and destroys ignorance. I salute you O’ Guru.
Teachers Day is celebrated across the world annually. Every country celebrates this on different days.
Picture – The above painting of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan was painted by S.N.Swamy a few decades ago. The copies of this painting was distributed in CAVA, Mysore on the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of senior artistes S.N. Swamy and B.H. Ramachandra. My visit to CAVA luckily coincided with this event.
In India it is celebrated on September 5th. When the students and friends of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday, he proposed that the day be celebrated as teacher’s day. Dr. Savapalli Radhakrishnan was a popular academic philosopher and the second President of India.
Teacher’s day is to honor, remember, and thank the teachers for their contribution to the society. The day is filled with fun activities involving the teachers and students.
