The flower bunches of this creeper is like a readymade delicate garland. It is very ideal to grow this creeper on pergolas and to line the compound. It adds a bonhomie feeling to the house or the garden.

Honolulu creeper is a native of Mexico but now grown all over the world to cover fences, wall or pergolas. I would love to use a branch of this creeper with flowers in an Ikebana.
The creeper is known by many other beautiful names like, Coral Creeper, Sandwich Island Creeper, Honolulu Creeper, Confederate Vine, Mountain Rose, Queen`s Jewels and Chain of Love.
The botanical name is Antigonon Leptopus and belongs to the family Polygonaceae. The creeper has tendril-like twisted ends that help the plant to climb. The flowers are a spray of white and pink flowers and each flower is like a deep cup when it is fully open.
Heart shape leaves of Honolulu creeper adds to the beauty of the climber. The leaves are bright green, wrinkled and the edges are wavy up to 7.5 cm in length.

The fruit of the plant are in clusters. Each is a small nut that is sheathed by five heart-shaped leaves. The fruits are green at the beginning and in due course become brown and brittle.
Propagation:
Honolulu creeper can be grown by seeds or by cuttings.
