Found this wild Orchid on a tree outside Yercaud Rose Garden. Botanical name is Diplocentrum Congestum and it belongs to Orchidaceae (Orchid) family. This Orchid is endemic to Karnataka and Kerala states in Peninsular India.
They are found in moist deciduous and evergreen forests of these states.
Diplocentrum Congestum is an epiphyte. The stem of the Orchid plant is short. The leaves are linear, thick, around 0.4 cm in width and 10 to 15 cm long.
Flowers are very very small and cute. They are greenish-pink and are borne on 10 to 20 cm long racemes. Orchid Diplocentrum Congestum flowers are 2 mm in width and are elliptic. Petals are oblong, blunt and the lip is around 6 to 3 mm. They bloom during the month of May to July
The plant grows well when mounted.
