A single Busy Lizzie plant is enough to brighten up a garden. The botanical name is Impatiens walleriana and belongs to Balsaminaceae family. Busy Lizzie – Impatiens is a perennial herb and is native to eastern Africa. Due to the generous and colorful blooms, this plant is grown around the world in gardens.
The plant grows to a height of 2 feet. The stem is succulent, transparent, and delicate. The leaves are alternate and lance shaped that can be as long as 12 cm and 5 cm broad. Leaves can be green, red, or bronze.
The flowers are 5 cm in diameter with five petals. Busy Lizzie – Impatiens blooms in various colors like White, Red, Pink, Orange, Peach, Red, and Purple.
The transparent seed pod contains tiny mustard shape and size seeds and explodes when ripe dispersing the seeds.

Busy Lizzie – Impatiens can be propagated by cuttings and seeds. Seeds may take 3-4 weeks to germinate.
Do not plant under direct sun. Impatiens needs copious amounts of water in summer. Feed every fortnight.
