Plant Summary:
As the name indicates the flower looks like a ladies slipper more like a slipper worn in at home. I have come across these bright and unusual flowers in Ooty and near Kalahatty waterfalls growing wildly.
Slipper flower is also known as Slipperwort and Gold Purse. The botanical name isCalceolaria tripartita belonging to the family Scrophulariaceae. The flowering is annual sometime during May to October. The flower is about 1 cm, yellow and the lower lip is designed like that of a house slipper.
The leaves are pinnate or single, with jagged edges and hairy.
