Happy Independence Day to you all!
The coins of the pre-independence era reminds us of the British rule in India. Now, these are part of our history and the pride of seeing the Ashoka pillar on the post-independence coins is a joy that knows no bounds.
I am sharing the pictures of a One Rupee 1916 George V King Emperor Silver British India Coin. This is part of a collection of my maternal grandfather and later was part of my father’s collection. It is made using silver and had a face value of one rupee during the time. This coin was minted in 1916 at the Calcutta Mint. It is named after King George V, who was the king of England at the time and it is also known as the “King Emperor” coin.
