As we approached the Albert Hall Jaipur we were awe struck at the beauty of the building. I took photographs of the building from all angles. Hundreds of Pigeons on the building and in front of the building added charm to it.
Albert Hall Jaipur is a Museum and is situated in Ram Niwas Garden in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was built to receive King Edward VII, the Prince of Wales in 1876. It was designed by Sir Swinton Jacob in Indo Sarcenic style of architecture. The building has many well proportioned towers, courtyards and archways.
The building was converted to a museum by Maharajah Mdho Singh II and opened to the public in 1887. Albert Hall Museum is also known as Government Central Museum and one of the oldest museums in Rajasthan.
A visit to the museum will enrich your knowledge regarding Rajasthan’s art and culture. The display includes textiles, paintings, carpets, metal and wood crafts, pottery, toys, arms and weapons, Egyptian mummy, miniature paintings, puppets, sculptures, and garments of various tribes.
The unique Phad paintings are diepalyed here, which are the painted scrolls depicting the life of Pabuji Rathore, the great folk hero from Marwar. The central gallery exhibits the dance and music forms of Rajasthan, which is not to be missed.
An entire hall displays the Henna art and the hall is known as Mehendi Mandana.
