Annigeri is the birth place of one of the greatest poets (Adi Kavi) of Kannada, Pampa. It is also famous for the ancient temple dedicated to Amruteswara / Lord Shiva built by Kalyani Chalukyas in 1112 CE. The Amruteshwara temple is supported by 76 pillars and is built in black stone. Mythological figurines are carved around the walls of the temple.
Annigeri is a town situated in 20 Km from Gadag in Navalgund taluk of Dharwad district, Karnataka. Annigeri was the hub of political and cultural activities during ancient times. Chalukyas, Yadavas, Kalachuris, and Hoysalas ruled Annigeri.
The car festival held in the month of December-January attracts many people around the region.
