Attiveri bird sanctuary is situated in Kalghatgi taluk, Dharwad district of North Karnataka. It is spread over an area of 2.23 Sq. Km. A dam was built across Thayavvanahalla in the village in 1990 to facilitate the farmers of Attiveri village to irrigate their lands.

The construction resulted in submerging the natural forest around this area. The parts of the trees that could not be submerged fully started attracting a variety of aquatic birds both local as well as migratory. The reservoir covers around 1.01 Sq. Km., and the rest of the area is dry deciduous forest with fruit and flowering trees. The birds preferred this calm and quiet place with ample aquatic and forest food to nest and breed. In august 2000, Attiveri was declared as a bird sanctuary.
