Like a beautiful Lotus blooming in muddy waters is another forgotten beautiful and ancient temple nestled among a thickly populated area with narrow roads in Hubli.
The 900 year old Chandramouleshwar Temple of the Badami Chalukyan era is situated near Unkal lake. The temple architecture is Chalukya style very similar to the ones seen in Badami, Aihole, and Pattadakal temples. It is protected by Archeological Survey of India (ASI).
The temple has four doors in four directions. Two Lingas are installed in the sanctum and opposite to each of these two Nandi statues are installed.
One of the Linga is Chaturmukha meaning, four-faced Shiva Linga. Everyday Pooja is conducted with full devotion.
Beautiful decorated granite pillars with sculptures are present in the temple. The walls are also have carvings.
The dancing Ganesha on the outer wall is very attractive.
Lord Narasimha’s carving is also very intricately done.
Ceiling has various geometric designs on them.
Various motifs adorn the walls and the pillars.
Devotees and gods and goddesses are patiently carved to precision.
On the day of Shivaratri, special Pooja is offered and many people throng the temple.
