Elephant Beach is the most popular beach for water sports and activities in Havelock Island.
Though most part of the beach was swept away by the 2004 Tsunami, the live corals here are the best around the island.
Also known as Hathi Tapu in Hindi, the name is derived because of the Elephants transported from the mainland to help humans were taken for a walk and swim on this beach. Now, only the name remains sans live elephants.
Awesome place to enjoy snorkeling, exotic marine life, glass bottom coral viewing, floating on tubes, Jet Ski, banana boat rides, scuba diving, or just sitting and watching all the activities.
The shallow gentle water in different shades of blue lapping on the white sand beach is inviting and invigorating.
You can reach the island by boat in 20 minutes and you can get a glimpse of the light house.
You can also reach the island by trekking into the forest for 30 minutes further north from Radhanagar Beach.
During the trek you will come across swamp-like water with mangroves.
This should not deter you to stop the trek, as this the water left behind by the Tsunami and it is not difficult to wade through it to reach the beach.
Best time to visit is from October to May.
High tropical trees offer a lovely background with a profusion of flora and fauna.
