Hubli is my birth place and it was initially known as Hubballi meaning flowering creeper in Kannada. This is one of the major cities of Karnataka. The twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad are the second largest economic contributors in Karnataka. It is situated 425 Km from Bangalore and 20 Km from Dharwad.
Brief History
Vijayanagara Rayas, Adilshahis, Bassappa Shetty (New Hubli), Marathas, Savanur Nawab, Haider Ali, and last but not the least British have been responsible for the cultural influences in the city.
Hubli is known to exist before the 16th century.
