On our Karnataka coastal temple trip, my husband insisted on driving up to the Maravanthe beach. The drive was spectacular with the Arabian Sea lashing on one side of the road and the Saurpanika River flowing calmly on the other. The Kodachadri hills in the background completed the beautiful scene.
We soaked in the view, stopped to feel the sea breeze, got wet deliberately when the waves hit the rocks, and sigh!.. drove back reluctantly promising to be back as soon as possible.
Maravanthe beach is 50 Kms from Udupi. The beach is few kilometers long with white sand, palm trees, and the blue sky. It is a pleasure to watch the sunset on this beach. The beach is perfect for water sports, beach cricket, volleyball, birding, and fishing.
The national highway runs parallel just 20 feet away from the Maravanthe beach. Best time to visit Maravanthe is from August to March.
Turtle bay beach resort is a very apt place to stay and enjoy this beach. Other interesting places nearby are Ottinane, which is a sunset point and Belaka Theertha falls.
