If you want to be on top of Karnataka, then travel to Mullayanagiri, which is the highest peak in Karnataka. It is 16 Km from Chikkamagalur and is 1930 meters above sea level and the view of the hills, plains and forests is mind blowing.
You will have to drive further from Seethalayanagiri on narrow roads with every turn revealing a spectacular view. When you see the steps, park your vehicle and climb up the 500-600 steps to reach the peak.
God has made this beautiful world and hence you will find the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the peak. Shiva is known as Mullayya here.
On clear days, you can see the Arabian Sea glistening far away.
On the way we spotted many birds like Kesteral, White Eye, Drongo, Parakeets, Bushchat and many Tiny and beautiful unidentifiable birds.
The Orchids delightfully hung on their supportive trees and the branches of the trees swished ever so delicately to the hilly wind appearing as though they are scared that their guests (orchids) might depart from their dwelling.
Picture above is Orchid Oberonia Verticillata. Many wild flowers in different hue is another thing to look out for while climbing.
The place is very calm and serene with hills looming all around you and if you scream with joy, expect it to echo many times. I will stop my banter and let you enjoy the pictures below.
