Pondicherry promenade or sea face as it is popularly known as is 1.5 kms long running along the beach. This is also known as Gourbert Avenue. A walk on the promenade is rejuvenating. There are many heritage buildings lined on this road.
During Sun Rise, the colors splashed on the sea and sky is a sight to behold.
The endless waves rising and crashing on the boulders stimulates your senses and only the blaze of the sun as it rises can make you return back to your hotel. The roads leading to the promenade are neat and well laid with shops lined on one side selling some great souvenirs.
At one end of Goubert Avenue is built the Indian war memorial. A helmet perched on a rifle signifies the sacrifice made by Indian soldiers. Four tall carved pillars from Gingee fort are placed all around this memorial.
