Soochipara Wateralls is also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls situated in the forests of Vellarimala, Wayanad district, Kerala.
Soochi in Malayalam means needle and Para means rock and so named because the water gushes from a height of 660 feet with great force and falls in three tiers on to the rocks. The force was so much when we visited that we could see only one tier of water cascading down with great force.
We visited the falls in peak monsoon season and could enjoy the waterfalls at its best albeit getting drenched in the rain.
Fifteen to twenty minutes trek is all that is needed to reach the waterfalls. The water from here tumbles and joins River Chulika also known as Chaliyar River near Cherambadi.
Evergreen forests surround the waterfalls.
Ferns, moss, and lichens are found in plenty around the falls. The waterfall is at its best from June end to December.
