Whenever we pass through the T.Narasipura Road from Mysore, we are sure to stop at an eye-catching water body known as Varuna Lake.
It is a huge lake built by the then Diwan of Mysore Sir M. Visweswaraiah. The source of water to the lake is rain and Cauvery water from Varuna Channel. Hence, there is water in the lake all the time. Stone banking is constructed on one edge of the lake on which the T.Narasipura highway is constructed.
On another edge is a small woodland, which adds to the scenic beauty.
Many birds are sighting around the lake. Some of them are Spot Billed Ducks, Purple Swamp hen, Cattle Egrets, Pond Heron, Coots, Cormorants, Snipe, Painted Storks, and Kingfishers.
