The Maharanas of Udaipur were connoisseurs of cars. These vintage beauties on wheels like Cadillac, Chevrolet, Morris, Rolls Royce, and so on are displayed within the grounds of the Garden Hotel in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
The Vintage Car museum is 2 Km from the City Palace. The Garden Hotel is a circular building located in Udaipur near Gulab Bagh.
All the 24 vehicles on display are maintained and are in running condition. The collection is a sign of aristocracy, luxury, and richness of the Maharanas. The car that caught my eye was a a 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom II and the 1939 Cadillac convertible. The guide pointed out that the Cadillac was used by Jackie Kennedy during her visit to Udaipur.
There are few horse drawn carriages and coaches on display. Solar vehicles on display were a big surprise.
My husband and son were so engrossed checking out the royal vehicles that I had to literally drag them to the restaurant for the sumptuous Rajasthani Thali.
