Wenlock Downs is popularly known as 9th and 6th mile as they are situated exactly at the 9th and 6th mile from Ooty. Innumerable movies have been shot here with the hero and the leading lady singing and dancing on the grassy meadows or walking downhill in between the pine trees.
Once you climb up the view of the Nilgiri hills are amazing. The 20,000 acres of vast expanse of meadow covered hills with pine forests in between is just the place for walking, trekking and picnicking.
Wild flowers like Dandelions, Clustered Summer Gentian and others add color and pattern making the whole landscape appear like God’s own carpet. Bushes of Holly, Wild tea and balsam grow healthily in a climate just made for them. The clouds suddenly descend on the hill covering with mist and a light drizzle brushes you face and lets you enjoy nature without running for cover as there is no cover for miles all around except for the vehicle that you came in.

From here you can view the Mukurthi peak rising high. Wenlock Downs now is the quarters for Gymkhana Golf Club and government initiated sheep farm.
You can also visit the pine forests, pykara falls and lake.
