Rice Idli

Steamed Rice cakes.  South Indian breakfast is incomplete with this nutritious and healthy dish.

Time Required: 10 Minutes + Soaking Time + Fermentation Time

Ingredients:
1 Cup Urad Dal / Split Black Gram
2 Cups Idli Rava / Idli Rice
Salt to taste

Method:
Soak Urad Dal for 3 hours. Grind it to a batter.

Add Idli Rava to the batter and mix well. Add water if required. Keep it aside for 6 to 7 hours.

Add Salt to the batter and add batter into the Idli molds.

Steam in a cooker for 10 minutes.

Remove from cooker and let it cool for 2 minutes.  Remove from molds.  Serve hot with Coconut Chutney and Sambar.

Variation:
Pour the batter into Mini Idli molds to make mini Idlis. Serve these drowned in a bowl of Sambar.
