I have fond memories of spending my summer holidays with my cousins in my maternal grandfather’s house. That was the time when we played, ate, sang, and roamed around to our heart’s content. What a contrast to the current lifestyle where people of all ages are hooked to a gizmo feeding nonstop relevant and irrelevant interactive content, cutting off reality, humor, and intellectual conversations.
Coming back to the holidays, after having a wholesome meal, we would wait for the elders to retire for their siesta and we would sneak into the kitchen and make Hunase Chigali and relish licking it off the stick. Hunase Chigali is a homemade lollipop prepared using Tamarind, Jaggery, and other ingredients.
