Dal Tadka is prepared using Yellow Lentil also known as Thogaribele, Tuvar Dal, Arhar Dal, Split Red Gram, and so on. In India Dal is prepared in so many ways and this variety is after cooking the Dal with Tomato and Onion a Tadka (seasoning) is added in the end.

Ingredients:
1 Cup Cooked Arhar Dal / Split Red Gram
1 Tomato, Chopped finely
1 Onion, Chopped finely
1 or 2 Green Chilies, Chopped or Slit
1/2 inch Ginger, Sliced
1tsp Turmeric Powder
Few sprigs of Coriander leaves, Chopped
Salt to taste
For the Tadka (Seasoning):
2tbsp Oil
2 – 3 Cloves Garlic, Minced (Optional)
Few Red Chilies
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1tsp Jeera / Cumin Seeds
Method:
Cook Arhar Dal, Tomato, Onion, Green Chilies, Ginger, and Turmeric Powder in a cooker.
Remove from cooker and transfer to a kadai (pan). Add Salt and Coriander leaves and cook.
In another pan, heat Oil and add Mustard Seeds and Jeera and when they splutter, add Red Chilies and Garlic.
Remove Dal to a serving bowl.
Add Tadka over the Dal. Serve Dal Tadka with Roti or Rice.
