Sometimes when the children make a fuss eating the everyday cuisine, moms add few children favorite ingredients to coax them to eat healthy food. One such is a sweet lentil dish, which is preferred by children and also adults.
Time required: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
1 Cup Tuvar Dal / split Pigeon peas, cooked
1 Lemon sized Jaggery
Few Curry leaves
Few sprigs Coriander leaves
Juice of 1 Lemon
Salt to taste
For the seasoning:
2 tsp Oil
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
1/4 tsp Hing / Asafoetida
1/2 tsp Jeera / Cumin seeds
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
Method:
Add Jaggery, Salt, and curry leaves to the cooked dal. Let it come to a boil. Add Lemon juice and Coriander leaves. Let it cook for a minute.
Heat Oil and add Mustard seeds, Hing, Jeera, and Turmeric Powder. Add this seasoning to the dal. Mix well.
Serve hot with your choice of Indian Bread or just plain Rice.
