Kesar Sandwich is prepared using dehydrated Milk, Nuts, and Saffron.
Time Required: 40 Minutes
Ingredients:
12 Bread slices
For the Mawa(solidified Milk) mixture:
150gms Mawa
1 – 2 tbsp Cream or Milk, to soften the Mawa
50gms Mixed Dry Fruit Chikki or Groundnut Chikki (Praline )
For the Saffron Sauce:
500ml Milk
2gm Saffron soaked in 2tbsp Warm Milk
1tbsp Corn flour mixed in 2tbsp cold water
4 – 5 tbsp Sugar
2 tbsp Cashew nuts and Almonds, Chopped and roasted for garnish.
Method:
Cut the Bread slices into triangles. Crush the Chikki. Boil Milk with Sugar.
As soon as the Milk starts to boil, simmer the stove and add the Corn flour slurry and stir the mixture continuously to thicken. Take it off the heat once you achieve a spoon-coating consistency.
Add in the Saffron milk and mix well.
To prepare the Mawa mixture:
Mix mawa with Cream till smooth and soft. Add Chikki powder to it and mix.
For Assembling:
Sandwich the Mawa mixture between the slice of bread.
Arrange the sandwiches in a shallow dish.
Pour the Saffron sauce over it.
Chill the dish and garnish with Saffron strands and Dry fruits.
Serve Kesar Sandwich chilled.
