Aloo Ka Halwa – Potato Pudding – Alu Halwa – Potato Halwa Recipe

Aloo Ka Halwa

Aloo ka Halwa is prepared when people restrict type of food consumed.  This is known as Vrat ka Khana or Palahara or Falhar. This is practiced during festivals or certain rituals.

Cuisine: North Indian

Time required: 20 Minutes

Ingredients:
3 Potatoes
3/4 Cup Sugar
1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
Almonds, Soaked and sliced
3 tbsp Ghee / Clarified Butter
1/2 Cup Milk (Optional)

Method:
Fry Almonds in 1/4 tsp Ghee until they turn brown and keep aside.

Boil Potatoes, Peal and Grate the Potatoes.  Heat Ghee in a pan, add the Potatoes and mix well.

Add Sugar and mix well.  Cook for a minute.

Add Milk (if using) and cook until it evaporates.  Add Cardamom Powder and Almonds and mix well.

Remove to serving dish and serve.
