Gasgase Payasa

Gasagase Payasa is a sweet pudding prepared using Poppy seeds.

Time Required: 25 Minutes + Soaking Time
Serves: 4

Ingredients:
1 tbsp Gasagase/Poppy Seeds/Khuskhus
1 tbsp Raw Rice
½ of fresh Coconut, Grated
1 Cup Jaggery, Grated
2 whole Elaichi/Cardamom, Powdered

Method:
Roast Poppy seeds and Rice. Soak them in water for 2 hours. Sieve and grind them with Coconut to a paste. Remove to a thick-bottomed vessel. Add 3 Cups of water and let it come to a boil. Add Jaggery and let it cook for 3 minutes. Add Elaichi and mix well.

Serve Gasagase Payasa hot or cold.  This payasa is served along with Vaththu Shavige (Rice Vermicelli).
