A deep fried sweet with coconut stuffing. This is prepared during festivals and offered to god.
Time Required: 40 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 Cup Wheat Flour or Chiroti Rawa (fine Semolina)
4 tbsp Ghee
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
For the stuffing:
A pinch of Cardamom powder
1 Cup Coconut, Grated
3 Cups Sugar
2 tbsp Dry fruit and nuts of your choice, chopped and roasted in Ghee
A little Milk
1 tsp Roasted Gasgase / Khus Khus / Poppy seeds
Method:
Mix the flour, Salt and Ghee well. Add water and knead to a dough and keep aside for an hour. Knead again for few minutes and divide into balls.
For the stuffing:
Cook the Coconut, Sugar, and Milk till the moisture evaporates.
Add your choice of dry fruits, Caradamom, Khus khus, and mix well. Divide the stuffing into lemon sized balls.
Roll the dough ball into a circle, place a spoon of stuffing on the center.
Close the Kadabu and seal it using Milk.
Ensure that the edges are closed completely.
Heat Oil and deep fry the kadabus both sides, till they turn light brown.
Remove on to a kitchen towel. Let them cool.
Store in airtight containers.
Offer to gods and then serve your guests the crispy Kayi Kadabu.
