This is a sweet dish from North Karnataka. This dish is offered to Lord Shiva during Shravana Somavara Pooja and Solah Somvara Vratha / observance.

Ingredients:
1½ Cups Wheat Flour
¼ Cup Grated Dry Coconut
1tsp Gasagase / Poppy Seeds / Khus Khus
3tbsp Ghee / Clarified Butter
1 Cup grated Jaggery
½tsp Cardamom Powder
Almonds or Pistachios to garnish
Method
Mix Wheat flour with water and knead to a dough. Divide the dough into balls and make Phulkas / Chapathis. Let the Phulkas cool. Grind the Phulkas into a coarse powder. Roast Gasagase and keep it aside. Heat Ghee in a thick-bottomed pan and add Jaggery to it and let the Jaggery melt. Remove the vessel from heat.
To the melted Jaggery, add the powdered Phulka / Chapathi, Gasagase, Cardamom Powder and mix well.Tie into Laddoos / balls.
Garnish with your choice of dry fruits or nuts. Serve Maledi or Churma Laddoo with Milk and Ghee.
