Alu Mutter dish is prepared using Peas and Potatoes in tomato gravy. This side dish is very popular in North India. This is served with Indian Bread.
Time Required: 25 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 Cup Shelled Peas
2 Big Potatoes
2 Big Tomatoes, Chopped finely
1 Big Onion, Chopped finely (Optional)
1tsp Ginger – Garlic paste (Optional)
2tsp Chili Powder
1tsp Jeera / Cumin Powder
1tbsp Coriander Powder
1tsp Aamchur / Dry Mango Powder
2tbsp Oil
1tsp Jeera / Cumin Seeds
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt to taste
Method:
Wash potatoes and peel them and dice them into 1 inch X 1 Cm pieces. Heat Oil and add Jeera and when they splutter add Turmeric powder. Add Ginger – Garlic paste and Onions and sauté for two minutes. Add Tomatoes and stir fry until the moisture evaporates. Add Cumin, Chili, Coriander and Aamchur powder and stir for a minute. Add Salt, Peas and Potatoes and 2 cups of water and close the vessel and cook until the Potatoes and Peas are soft. Remove to a serving dish and garnish with Coriander leaves.
Serve with your choice of Indian Bread or Pav / Bread or plain Rice.
