Malai Kofta Curry is a rich creamy side dish with deep fried Potato and Cottage Cheese balls. It is served with Roti, Kulcha, or Naan.
Ingredients:
For the gravy:
2 tbsp Khova / Khoya / Dehydrated Milk
1 Onion
1 tsp Chili Powder
1″ Ginger
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
2 – 3 Garlic pods
1 tsp Coriander Powder
2 Green Chilies
1/2 Cup Fresh Cream
1/2 Cup Tomato Puree
3 tbsp Oil
Salt to taste
For the Kofta:
1 Cup Grated Paneer / Cottage Cheese
1 Potato, Boiled and Grated
Few Raisins
1 to 2 tbsp Cornflour
1 tsp Chili-Ginger paste
Oil for deep-frying
Salt to taste
Method:
For the Kofta:
Mix the ingredients for the Kofta except for Raisins. Divide into Lemon sized balls. Stuff two or three Raisins in each of the balls.
Deep fry until they turn brown.
Remove them on a kitchen towel.
For the gravy:
Heat 1 tbsp Oil and saute Onion, Ginger, and Garlic. Grind to a paste and keep aside.
Heat 2 tbsp Oil and add Green Chilies and Tomato Puree and cook until the moisture evaporates.
Add the Onion paste and Cream and mix well. Add Garam Masala, Chili Powder, Coriander Powder, and Salt and mix well.
In a serving dish, arrange the Koftas.
Pour the gravy over it. You can also cook the Koftas in the gravy.
Garnish with Coriander leaves and serve hot Malai Kofta Curry with your choice of Indian Bread.
