It is winter! and Avarekayi known as Lilva Beans are a favorite in South Karnataka. The kitchen churn out various recipes using this winter flat beans. This spicy crispy rings of kodubale is a welcome snack along with filter coffee or masala tea.
Cuisine: South Karnataka
Time required: 1 hour
Ingredients:
1 Cup Peeled Avarebele (hithiki) / the beans are peeled of their outer layer
2 Cups Rice flour
1 tbsp. Maida
2 tsp Chili powder
1 tsp Jeera
1 tbsp Butter
Salt to taste
Method:
Grind Avarebele to a paste. Mix all the the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Add water to make a dough.
Divide into small balls. Shape each ball into kodubale.
Deep fry them on low flame.
Fry until they turn crisp and golden brown.
Remove on to a kitchen towel. When cool, store in airtight containers.
