Onion Pakoda are spicy Onion fritters very popular in North India usually served as an evening snack during winters along with a cup of Masala Chai/Tea or Fruit juice in summers.
Time Required: 25 Minutes
Ingredients:
3 Onions
Few Curry Leaves, Chopped
1 Cup Gram Flour
½Cup Chiroti/Fine Rawa/Semolina
2tbsp Chili Powder
2tsp Saunf/Aniseed, Crushed
Few Cashew nuts, Chopped
Oil for deep-frying
Salt to taste
Method:
Chop Onions finely, add Salt and leave it aside for 10 minutes. Now add Curry Leaves, Chili Powder, Saunf, Cashew nuts and mix well. Add Rawa and Gram Flour little by little and keep mixing. Do not add water. Stop adding Rawa and Gram flour when you think the mixture is going to be too thick and dry.
Heat Oil in a kadai and drop the mixture little by little into the Oil. Do not pat the mixture into a vada. Just pick the mixture and drop it straight into the Oil. Fry on low flame and when they turn brown remove Onion Pakoda on to a kitchen towel and serve with Chuntey or Ketchup and do not forget to serve the Masala Chai!
