Spicy Shankarpali also known as Tukdi or Namakpare is a savory distributed to children during Dasara festival in Karnataka. A Maharashtrian snack, it is prepared during Diwali in Maharashtra.

Ingredients:
1 Cup Maida
2tbsp Ghee/Clarified Butter
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Jeera / Cumin Powder
Hing / Asafoetida
Oil for deep-frying
¼ tsp Cooking Soda
Salt to taste
Method:
Mix the ingredients together with water to a dough.
Divide into balls.
On a floured surface, roll them into a big circle of at least 10” diameter.
Using a cutter cut into small diamond shapes.
Heat Oil in a kadai and deep fry spicy Shankarpoli till light or dark golden brown.
Remove on a kitchen towel and store in airtight containers.
