I will call this recipe Tomat illa (illa means “not available” in Kannada) Verde Salsa. As Tomatillo (pronounced “toe-mah-TEE-yo”) is not available in India, I prepared this using Raw Tomato as it looks very similar to Tomatillo. About the taste, I am not sure whether it is the same. Anyway, this sauce with Jalopeno / Shimla Mirchi poppers tasted just right.

Ingredients:
1 Tomatillo / Raw Tomato
1 Green Chili
1 Onion
2 Pods Garlic
1 Cup Cilantro / Coriander Leaves
Juice of half Lemon
Salt to taste
Method:
Roast Tomatillo or illa, Green Chili, Garlic, and Onion on direct fire or in an oven.
Chop them all.
Combine together and blend to a paste.
Remove to a bowl, add Salt, Lemon juice, and Cilantro.
Mix well and serve Tomatillo Verde Salsa with bread or Jalapeno poppers.
