Mutter Paneer is a very popular in Punjab. It is a dish wherein Peas and Cottage Cheese are cooked in Tomato gravy. It is a very good accompaniment for Indian Bread.
Time Required: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 Cup Shelled Peas
1 Cup Paneer / Cottage Cheese Cubes
1 Big Onion, Chopped finely
2 Tomatoes or 1 Cup Tomato Puree, Chopped finely
1tsp Ginger – Garlic paste
2 Green Chilies, Slit
1tsp Coriander Powder
1tsp Cumin Powder
1tsp Red Chili Powder
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
1tsp Garam Masala Powder
2 to 3 tbsp Cream or Curds (Optional)
3tbsp Oil
3 Sprigs Coriander leaves, Chopped finely
Salt to taste
Method:
Shallow fry Paneer and keep it aside. This is optional, you can add Paneer without shallow frying too. Cook Peas with little salt and keep it aside.
Heat Oil in a kadai/pan and add Onion, Ginger-Garlic paste, Green Chilies and sauté for a minute.
Add Tomatoes and stir-fry until all the moisture evaporates.
Add Turmeric powder, Cumin powder, Chili powder Coriander powder and stir. Add 2tbsp water and stir.
Add cooked Peas.
Add Garam Masala, Salt, Cream and Paneer and cook for a minute.
Remove to a serving dish and garnish with Coriander leaves.
Serve hot with your choice of Indian Bread.

Yes Satya, it is yummy and since my son loves Paneer I prepare this and Palak Paneer quite often.

First of all Thanks for posting this recipe.. till now was only trying/cooking traditional south indian food which my mom n mil used to cook… will try north indian foods which u post here as my hubby loves varieties of veg foods.. 🙂
And btw, where do we get paneer.. is it prepared at home/ purchased?
