Cycas is also known as Sagu Palm. It is an attractive indoor and garden plant. The leaves of this plant are extensively used in Ikebana as they stay fresh for a long time.
Cycas is native of Mexico, Madagascar, and South Africa but has adapted itself in other countries with similar weather conditions. They grow very well in India. Cycas belongs to Cycadaceae family and are very slow growing woody stemmed plants. The leaves look like palm leaves.
The leaves are pinnate, dark green, and glossy. The trunk is brown, rough and the leaves form a crown structure over it.
Propagation
They can be propagated from seed or by removing and rooting buds growing on the mature trunks. Plant them in well-drained soil under full sun and water regularly.
