Hibiscus Juice is as the name implies is prepared from the petals of Hibiscus Flower. Juice is distributed during Rama Navami festival and a Flower juice instead of a Fruit juice is a welcome change!
Time Required: 5 Minutes
Ingredients:
Few Hibiscus Flowers
Sugar to taste
Lemon Juice
Method:
Separate the Hibiscus petals from the flower and wash them.
Boil two glasses of water and switch off the heat. Add the petals in the boiling water.
The color of the flower is immediately drained out into the water. Remove the petals. Add Sugar and Lemon Juice and mix well.
Chill Hibiscus juice before serving.
while most hibiscus flowers are edible the best one to use for tea is hibiscus sabdariffa. it is also known as sorrel or rosella. if you go to a mexican store it is flor de jamica. this is the one that gives a the cranberry tast and is the traditional one used in mexican aguas frescas. i would suggest sabdarifa.
Thanks for the information Siranjeevi.
