Girmitt is a popular North Karnataka Snack. It is usually served with Mirchi Bhajji and finished with Tea.

Time required: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 Big Bowl Kadalepuri / Puffed Rice / Murmura
1 Tomato, Chopped finely
1 Onion, Chopped finely
2 – 3 tbsp Fried Gram Powder
2 tbsp Masala Groundnuts
2 tbsp Mixture
1 tbsp Jaggery
For the Masala:
2 tbsp Oil
2 – 3 Green Chilies
2 Small Onions, Chopped finely
2 Small Tomatoes, Chopped finely
1 tbsp Tamarind Pulp
Few sprigs Coriander Leaves, Chopped
Salt to taste
Method:
Heat Oil, add Green Chilies and Onion and saute for a minute.
Next, add Tomatoes and Salt and cook for two to three minutes. Continue to stir. Remove to a bowl and keep aside.
In a Big Bowl add Puffed Rice, Fried Gram Powder, Jaggery, Coriander leaves and the Tomato – Onion Masala.
Mix well. Serve immediately.

Dear Girija,Glad to hear from you.The black ingredient in the mixture are Whole Red Lentils known as Masoor Dal. This is deep fried along with the skin and then added to the mixture.Regards,Shantha
