When I heard about this temple, I wanted to visit as a flower name was associated with the deity. Kurinji Andavar Murugan temple is situated in Kodaikanal on a hillock surrounded by Kurinji flower shrubs. The Kurinji flower blooms once in 12 years.
The presiding deity is called Kurinji Andavar Murugan (Lord Shanmuga / Murugan).
This temple was built in 1936 by Lady Ramanathan, an European lady converted to Hinduism after her marriage to Sri Lankan Mr.Ponnambalam Ramanathan.
The temple was handed over to Arulmighu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Thiru Kovil, Palani by Mrs Devi Prasad Bhaskaran (also known as Padmini, niece and adopted daughter of Mr S Natesan Pillai, son in-law of Lady Ramanathan) and her husband Dr R. Bhaskaran.
It is a one of the major attractions for tourists.
