Affectionately this party dish is called B cubed and the authentic name is bisibelehulianna. This is a complete and wholesome meal prepared using lentils, rice, assorted vegetables and spices. Raitha and Sandige/Fryums accompany this main course. Mom makes the best B cubed and she has always honored my friends’ request for the same at parties.

Ingredients:
1 Cup Beans, Cut into ½ “ pieces
½ Cup Peas
½ Cup Carrots, Cut into 1 Cm pieces
½ Cup Knol Kol, Cut into 1 Cm pieces
2 Cups Raw Rice
1½ Cup Tur Dal/Red Gram Split
4tbsp Bisibelebath Pudi/Powder
1 Big Lemon sized Tamarind soaked in water
A pinch of Asafoetida
4tbsp Ghee/Clarified Butter (Optional)
Salt to taste
For the Seasoning:
1tbsp Oil
½ tsp Mustard Seeds
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
A pinch of Asafoetida
Few Curry Leaves
2 Dry Red Chilies, Broken
Method:
In a thick-bottomed pan cook Tur Dal for 10 minutes, now add the Rice and the Vegetables and cook for 5 minutes. Extract Tamarind pulp and add this to the dal and rice mixture. Add Salt, Bisibelebath Pudi/Powder and Asafoetida and let it cook for 5 minutes. If it is too thick add more water and cook stirring continuously. Add Ghee and mix well.
Heat Oil and add Mustard Seeds and when they splutter add Asafoetida, Turmeric Powder, Curry Leaves and Red Chilies. Add this to the Bisibelebhath and mix well and serve hot Bisibelebath with Raitha and Sandige/Fryums.
