Indian bread stuffed with Onions. The Onion gives an excellent taste to the Paratha along with the spices that are added.
Time Required: 30 Minutes
Ingredients:
For the dough:
1 Cup Wheat flour
Salt to taste
Oil for roasting
For the stuffing:
3 Onions, chopped finely
1tsp Grated fresh Ginger
1tsp Chili Powder
1tsp Jeera Powder
1tsp Green Chili paste
1/4 cup chopped Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Method:
In a mixing bowl, add the ingredients for the stuffing and keep it aside.
Mix wheat flour, salt and water to a dough. The dough should be neither too soft nor too tough. Divide into balls. Flatten each dough ball and stuff with a spoon of Onion mixture and close it.
Roll each ball on a floured surface into a concentric circle.
Put it on a hot Tava/Flat Pan.
Roast on both sides with Oil.
Remove Parathas on a tray.
Serve hot with Raitha, Chutney, Salad, Lassi, or Pickle.
You can also serve Onion Paratha with any Vegetable Dish or Dal.
Hi Shantha,
Thanks for posting this. I tried this out and the paratha was very tasty. However, i found it difficult to roll the paratha after putting the mixture. The dough was breaking and some mixture came out. Do you have any tip for me to make it better?
Hi Prathibha,
Check out the pictures in the below posts – http://www.itslife.in/2009/12/spring-onion-cheese-paratha

You might get some idea. When you roll the first time, let it be thick. After you put the mixture, roll gently.
Better luck next time,
Shantha
Thanks Shantha… my style of making Parathas is getting better 🙂
