Bhindi Besan Masala is a dish where Okra is cooked with spices, yogurt and gram flour.
Time Required: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
10 Bhindi / Okra / Lady’s Finger
3tbsp Besan / Gram Flour
5tbsp Curds / Yogurt
1 big Onion, Chopped finely
Chopped Coriander leaves for garnishing
5tbsp Oil
1 tsp Jeera / Cumin seeds
Salt to taste
For the coating:
2tsp Coriander Powder
2tsp Pomegranate Seeds Powder or Aamchur / Dry Mango Powder
1tsp Chili Powder
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1tsp Garam Masala Powder
¼ tsp Salt
Method:
Wash and dry Bhindi. Slit the Bhindi into two lengthwise. Mix the ingredients for the coating in a bowl. Add the Bhindi to the bowl and toss them until they are evenly coated with the masala.
Heat Oil and add Jeera and when they splutter, add Onion and fry until they turn translucent.
Add Gram Flour and fry.
Fry until it changes color.
Add the masala coated Bhindi and stir.
Add Curds and mix well.
Close the kadai lid and cook for two minutes.
Open the lid and stir.
Remove to a serving dish.
Garnish with Coriander leaves and serve hot with Phulka, Paratha or Chapathi.
